Fortunately no one was seriously hurt, but a few crashes added twists and turns to the 100th Running of the Indy 500.

A clean start made the first 64 laps fly by, until we were guaranteed there would be no back-to-back winner when Juan Pablo Montoya crashed in Turn 2.

Then on lap 94, Sage Karam lost control and hit the wall, ending his day.

On Lap 115, Conor Daly and Mikhail Aleshin bumped, sending Aleshin into the wall and the race under yellow again. Both were done for the day after that.

While the drivers were under caution, an incident in the pits took down a race leader in Ryan Hunter-Reay. As Hunter-Reay was pulling out of pit lane, he bumped with Townsend Bell, sending them both into the wall. Hunter-Reay had led 53 laps up until that point.

Buddy Lazier also lost a tire on Lap 150 after it wasn't fully secured coming out of the pits, ruining his chances as well.

Takuma Sato also lost control on lap 163, hitting the walk in Turn 4 for the last caution of the race.
