INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials gave race fans a look into what they should expect before attending this year’s Indy 500.

IMS President Doug Boles announced Vice President Mike Pence and Karen Pence are scheduled to attend this year’s race, which will heighten security at the track.

Pence’s visit will heavily impact the Turn 2 area suites. Gate 4, found near Turn 2, will be closed to pedestrians Carb Day through the Indy 500 race. A new pedestrian traffic flow area will be created in place of the gate closing.

Boles also advised attendees to arrive early as many parking lots are muddy from rainy weather and they may cause delays in getting into the track.

“We’re asking people to plan where they’re going, be very patient and come early so we can get you in,” said Boles.
