INDIANAPOLIS -- It was an all-Indiana final at the NCAA Women's Final Four.

Notre Dame beat Purdue 68-66 for the title. The Fighting Irish women's first title.

Over at the Speedway, they were riding the momentum of the inaugural Formula One U.S. Grand Prix.

Scott Sharp started the 500 on pole for Ft. Wayne-based Kelly Racing, but his day up front was short-lived after an accident in Turn 1 of the first lap.

Hoosier favorite Tony Stewart was a strong favorite having qualified seventh. He held the lead for 13 laps and finished sixth.

Stewart then jetted off to Charlotte for the NASCAR race and would complete the Memorial Day double.  The *first* driver ever to do that.

The story of the day was Brazilian rookie Helio Castroneves driving the number 68 car for Roger Penske.

He started in the fourth row and worked his way to the front.

Castroneves held off teammate Gil de Ferran for the win.

And after taking the checkered flag, Helio climbed the fence, in what has now become an iconic race day moment.
