INDIANAPOLIS - An irate Indiana Pacers fan's comments during the team's home loss to Atlanta Monday in the first round of the NBA playoffs is bringing more attention to the team's woes.
With the Pacers down 21 in the waning minutes of the first half, the fan could be heard on the game TV broadcast yelling at Paul George right after George turned the ball over on a walking call.
"George, hey, won't you start playing basketball and stop travelling?" the fan said. "I guess you're ready to go home in the first round."
The fan continued to berate George as Atlanta brought the ball up the court.
"You ready to go home in the first round against Atlanta? You're supposed to be an all-star," the fan said. "You've got to play ball and stop travelling."
The screaming fan capped a dismal first half for Indiana in which boos overtook Bankers Life Fieldhouse at points.
The Pacers struggled down the stretch of the regular season, yet finished first in the Eastern Conference.
After a 107-97 loss, Indiana is down 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, with Atlanta getting a chance to close out the series if they win Thursday.
