INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Tournament teams may get all the attention, but there are other Indiana college basketball teams playing in the postseason this month.

Indiana University, Ball State, IPFW and Valparaiso all received invitations to play in "other" tournaments.

Much to the chagrin of Indiana University fans (and to the joy of Purdue fans) IU did not make it into the NCAA Tournament this year. The Hoosiers lost to the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday, ending any hopes of a NCAA Tournament spot. But IU will play in the National Invitation Tournament this year.

According to CBS Sports' Jerry Palm, IU is the first team to beat two No. 1 seeds in non-conference play and miss the NCAA Tournament.

The Hoosiers are a No. 3 seed and will play against No. 6 Georgia Tech Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Atlanta. The game will be on ESPN.

Valparaiso is a No. 7 seed in the NIT, and will play at No. 2 Illinois Tuesday at 7:15 p.m on ESPN2.

Ball State didn't make it to the NIT, but will play against Fort Wayne in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). IPFW will host the game Wednesday at 7 p.m. This is Ball State's second straight CIT appearance.

Fort Wayne -- yes, the same team that beat No. 3 IU earlier in the season -- will be in its fourth straight postseason appearance. The team played in the NIT in 2016 after two CIT appearances.
