INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Indians suspended two players for the season this week following their arrest after a fight in Toledo, Ohio.

Indians players Epho Gift Ngoepe and Dovydas Neverauskas were arrested early Sunday morning on two charges each of resisting arrest. Ngoepe faces an additional charge of simple assault.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the players' arrest stemmed from a bar fight at the Blarney Irish Pub across from the ballpark where the Indians played in Toledo over the weekend.

The Indians released a statement to RTV6 Tuesday evening saying that both Ngoepe and Neverauskas had been suspended for the season:

"Indians players Gift Ngoepe and Dovydas Neverauskas were involved in an incident in Toledo on Saturday night. As a result of their actions both players have been suspended for the remainder of the season by the Pirates. There is a legal process ongoing in Toledo regarding this situation, and the Indians will have no further comment while this process is in progress."

Neverauskas, a native of Vilnius, Lithuania, was assigned to the Indians as a pitcher in June from the Altoona Curve. He had played 25 games with the Indians before his suspension.

Ngoepe was first assigned to the Indianapolis Indians in June 2015. The short stop, a native of Pietersburg, South Africa, has played 102 games with the Indians over his AAA career.
