Officials at Indiana University East confirm the 31-year-old tennis star is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business through the school's online degree-completion program.

Buzz began to build earlier this summer when Williams was spotted wearing and IU East sweatshirt during her first round at Wimbledon.

When a student and fan sent her a message over Twitter, the athlete tweeted back, "go red wolves!!!"

Williams, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is the chief executive officer of her interior design firm "V Starr Interiors," launched a fashion line in 2007 and is part owner of the Miami Dolphins.

IU East officials said Williams sought out their online program. They said she has expressed interest in visiting campus.
