FISHERS, Ind. - The Pacers may have won the game, but a young fan with some killer dance moves received national attention for his standout performance.
Will Marquardt, 8, of Fishers, is the latest viral internet video sensation.
During a fourth quarter timeout in a home game against the Houston Rockets, the "Old School Dance Cam" panned the crowd, encouraging fans to show off their moves to Run-D.M.C.'s "It's Tricky."
Marquardt took the task seriously, showing off an array of dance moves. He got so much response from the crowd the camera came back to him, ending with a rousing 40-second closing routine.
"When people saw the video, I was pretty embarrassed," Marquardt said.
Now his video has almost 900,000 hits and his family said he is in the spotlight in the community.
"People are coming up to me at school and I don't even know them. They're like oh my gosh your brother is so adorable, I love his dance moves," said sister Ava Marquardt.
"I never thought we or he'd be getting this kind of attention for just a couple of minutes of dancing on or at a Pacer game," said mother Natalie Marquardt.
His father agreed.
"We walked out of there and people were just kind of high-fiving him and telling him what a great job, and he kind of became a mini celebrity. We thought that was it and left, thinking what a fun experience. The next thing you know, it kind of exploded," said Bill Marquardt.
Will said he can't believe that practicing all of his dance moves has led to him becoming a star of a viral video on the Internet.
