Models Say Employer Failed To Pay Them

INDIANAPOLIS -- Dozens of models claim that an Indianapolis modeling business failed to pay them for work that they did, Call 6 for Help's Rafael Sanchez reported Tuesday.The models said Perfect 10 Models Inc. hired them to promote products at events like trade shows. The models' contracts said they would be paid within 90 days, but payment didn't come, the models said.

"The checks would never show up," said model Tiffinie Smith, who told Call 6 that Perfect 10 Models owes her $3,600.Perfect 10 Models, operated by Heather Dill, filed for bankruptcy in June, Sanchez reported. The filing is being processed in court.Melissa Elliott said Perfect 10 Models hired her to do promotions in South Bend. She said she is owed more than $13,000."I got a bunch of my friends to do (the promotions) ... and she never paid them as well," Elliott said.Dill's former office manager, Lori Brooks, told Call 6 that she left the business when the payment situation seemed to be spiraling out of control."When I was still there, every person that would walk in the door for an interview, I'm thinking to myself, 'There is our next sucker. It won't be two promotions that they work, and they're going to want to know why they are not paid,' " Brooks said.Dill, on a MySpace.com page labeled "Oh That Heather," is still advertising for models, Sanchez reported.Call 6's attempts to reach Dill for comment were unsuccessful.
