Call 6 For Help

Bankruptcy Court Reviewing Records Of Models' Employer

POSTED: 9:36 pm EDT September 6, 2006

A bankruptcy court is trying to determine what assets it can claim from a woman whose former modeling employees accuse her of not paying them, Call 6 for Help's Rafael Sanchez reported Wednesday.

At a hearing Wednesday, a lawyer for Perfect 10 Models owner Heather Dill said Dill wants to work out a payment plan with the models.

Dozens of models claim that Dill failed to pay them for work that they did at events such as trade shows, Sanchez reported. Perfect 10 filed for bankruptcy in June.

One of the models, Kelly Jo Lanham, said Dill owes her $2,800.

"She kind of gave you the runaround, saying, 'Oh, well, I mailed (your paycheck). It's in the mail,' " Lanham told Call 6.

The court said it learned Dill deposited $24,000 in her own bank account the day after she filed for bankruptcy. The court is reviewing Dill's financial statements to see what assets it can seize from her, Sanchez reported.

In a statement released on Dill's behalf after the hearing, her lawyer said Perfect 10 "regrets that it could not remain financially viable through this time of economic adversity."

The statement also said Dill is suing a former employee that she blames for the situation.
