Colts Fans Pack Into Stores To Buy Championship Gear

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Colts fans packed stores early Monday morning to snap up Super Bowl championship gear after the Indianapolis Colts' victory on Sunday night.There was a standing-room only crowd at Dick's Sporting Goods in Greenwood. The store was open after midnight as eager fans poured in, and was open again early Monday morning to accommodate fans.
Colts Fans Celebrate In Streets, Stores
Super Bowl XLI women's T-shirts were sold out when 6News visited at about 6 a.m., but new shipments were coming in about every 45 minutes. A pile of men's T-shirts were on a row of tables.Clerks got Super Bowl champions apparel out of boxes and on the sales floor as quickly as they could.Jackie Butcher was one of the fans in the crowd on Sunday night. He returned early Monday morning to buy some more stuff, 6News' Julie Pursley reported."It was great. There were people everywhere ... helping each other get T-shirts, looking for their sizes," Butcher said. "We waited about an hour-and-a-half to check out. I was here probably two hours total."Butcher said it was a party atmosphere in line as fans waited to be checked out, with fans throwing footballs to each other.Some fans stopped by the store on their way to work or school on Monday."Today, I wanted to get here and get a sweatshirt, just because I knew it would get busy and I wanted to get here before the crowd," said Paula Redd.Dick's said they are waiting on championship hats to arrive later on Monday.
