KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Missouri 8-year-old is showing he cares with his hair by growing it out for the last 19 months.
On Tuesday, Owen Riddle cut off 12 inches for Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a program that donates wigs to the American Cancer Society to give to cancer patients across the country.
Owen said growing his hair out wasn’t always easy.
“It was really long and it hurt when you had to comb it after sleeping in it,” he said.
His mother also said he had trouble with the length.
“As it got longer, he had gotten mistaken as a girl a lot more and at first that bothered him a little bit,” his mother said.
Owen’s mother also said he got excited telling people about why he was growing it out. He may even grow it out again for another donation.
