Strong Storms Dump Hail On Parts Of Indiana

Active Weather Pattern Continues

POSTED: 4:49 pm EDT June 22, 2008

More strong to severe thunderstorms moved across portions of Indiana Sunday, capping off another rocky weather weekend for the state.

The strongest of the storms were primarily north of Indianapolis. Hail of up to 1.75 inches in diameter was reported in Miami County Sunday afternoon.

There were other reports of large hail in Cass and Pulaski counties.

A severe thunderstorm watch was posted for a portion of southeastern Indiana for part of the day on Sunday.

The latest round of strong storms followed other storms, which dropped large hail and packed strong winds on Saturday.

Hail of up to 1 inch in diameter fell in several counties in western and north-central Indiana on Saturday, and numerous severe thunderstorms warnings were issued.

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center had placed all of Indiana in a slight risk area for severe weather on both Saturday and Sunday.

There is a slight chance of storms again on Monday, but the weather is expected to be dry on Tuesday.

After that, a daily chance of thunderstorms is expected into the weekend, Storm Team 6 meteorologist Crystal Wicker said.
