INDIANAPOLIS -- Rain, some freezing rain, and then snow are expected in central Indiana Friday, but ice accumulations are not expected to be significant, RTV6 Chief Meteorologist Kevin Gregory said.
The National Weather Service has lifted previous winter-storm and ice-storm warnings. A winter weather advisory is in effect for Friday afternoon.
While the weather will be significant, the word "advisory" implies that severe winter weather is not anticipated, the NWS said.
Mixed precipitation will turn to snow late Friday night with 2 to 4 inches possible in central Indiana through Saturday evening, Gregory said.
In portions of northern Indiana, 3 to 5 inches are possible from Friday night to Saturday night, Gregory said.
Saturday's high temperature in Indianapolis should be around 24 degrees, Gregory said.
Some snow flurries could still be hanging around Sunday, but the precipitation should clear out in time for Monday, Gregory said.
