Winter-weary Hoosiers are about to get another blast from Mother Nature.

A winter storm is expected to dump at least 4 inches of snow on the central part of the state, with higher amounts expected in the northern part of the state.

A winter storm watch was posted for central Indiana as a complex storm system approaches from the west. The watch in central Indiana will likely be upgraded to a warning or replaced with an advisory for much of Indiana later Monday. Snow will begin moving into Indiana late Monday and will stay in the forecast through Wednesday morning. The snow isn't expected to fall that heavily, but it is in the forecast for an extended period of time.

Across central Indiana, accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible through Wednesday morning. In southern Indiana, 3 to 7 inches of snow is forecast, while 7 to 12 inches of accumulation are possible in northern Indiana.

News of another winter storm is unwelcome to residents who are still digging out from up to 9 inches of snow that fell just days ago.

Dozens of schools delayed or canceled classes Monday because secondary roads are still covered with snow from the last storm system. Check Closings, Delays

After the storm passes, gusty winds will settle in again, causing more blowing and drifting snow.

Temperatures will not be an issue with this storm. It will be well below freezing through the forecast period.

Snow is expected to be moderate to heavy at times during the day on Tuesday, when the bulk of the accumulating snow is expected to move through the state.

After the storm moves away, calmer weather will prevail, but temperatures will stay below normal in the days ahead.
