A break in the action was allowing crews to catch up and prepare for the next round of snow expected during the evening hours. There were some slide-offs and minor crashes, but no major travel incidents were reported as of 11:30 a.m. across central Indiana. In the Indianapolis area, Indiana State Police reported responding to 63 crashes and slide-offs.Road conditions were a little worse in southeastern Indiana and in northwestern Indiana, where interstates and other major roads were reported snow-covered.A full slate of crews from the Indianapolis Department of Public Works and Indiana Department of Transportation were treating the roads.INDOT put 65 trucks on the highways to treat and plow roads in the Indianapolis area early Tuesday morning through Wednesday.Another 3 inches of snow could fall in the Indianapolis area by Wednesday morning, so road crews will have their work cut out for them.Motorists were asked to slow down and use common sense on the highways."Mostly slide-offs, some property damage crashes -- nothing real serious, but obviously a few delays," said Indiana State Police 1st Sgt. John Smithers. "Take your time, leave early, make sure you leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you."Sarah Nicley had a tough time getting to work during her commute on Interstate 65 on Indianapolis' south side."I almost got hit by a semi. He was swerving and taking two lanes," she said. "I was going in the left lane, and he about hit me."A tractor-trailer collided with an SUV at the intersection of Southport Road and Emerson Avenue."You can't really see the lines or anything," the truck's driver said.
