Stephanie Ortmann joined the RTV6 weather team in October 2011 as the weekend meteorologist and is excited to be living and working in Central Indiana.

Stephanie was born in Florida but grew up in Knoxville, Tenn. After graduating high school, she went back to Florida for college. She attended and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in meteorology and minors in both mathematics and communications.

Since graduating college, Stephanie has worked all over the country. She moved to Indianapolis after working as a meteorologist in Lincoln, Neb., but has also worked at KPTV in Portland, Ore., and KKTV in Colorado Springs, Colo. Stephanie started her career in Eugene, Ore., at KEZI. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys traveling to destinations all over the country and the world.

"I love experiencing new places and cultures and meeting new people. No two places are alike and every person has a story to tell," Stephanie says.

She's been to places like Hawaii, Mexico, Austria, and Italy, and hopes to travel to South America and Africa sometime in the near future. She particularly likes to fly to Germany to visit her relatives and to Tennessee to see her family. She also loves good food, spending time with her friends, and watching football (Go Noles!) and soccer. She’s always up for trying anything new!

In the summer of 2011, Stephanie cut off 10 inches of her hair and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths -- an organization that makes free real-hair wigs from donated hair and then distributes those wigs through select American Cancer Society wig banks to women living with cancer. She hopes to donate again in the future.

A few fun facts about Stephanie: She’s 100% German. She won the National Scream Contest held in York, Neb., two years in a row (2010/2011), and between January and September 2009, she traveled approximately 110,000 miles. Her dream job: to be the host of a show on the Travel Channel.
