Three tornadoes touched down in Indiana during Sunday night's storms, the National Weather Services said Tuesday.

The tornadoes -- each packing winds of 73-112 mph -- were in Mitchell in Lawrence County, Seymour in Jackson County and southeast of Romney in Tippecanoe County, the weather service said. Weather officials reached their conclusions after two days of ground and aerial damage surveys.

The weather service said much of the state was hit with straight-line winds of 60 mph to 70 mph, and winds of 100 mph or more caused significant damage in Indianapolis and Washington in Daviess County. In downtown Indianapolis, winds damaged the 36-story One Indiana Square tower, blowing out dozens of several windows and prompting officials to close the building and surrounding streets indefinitely.

In Mitchell, about 75 miles southwest of Indianapolis, some homes and businesses were damaged. The roof of the C&M conveyor belt company in Mitchell collapsed onto machinery below.

In Seymour, two homes were destroyed and several others were damaged.

Across Indiana, storms on Sunday destroyed one business, damaged 49 business sites, destroyed 19 homes and damaged more than 400 homes, according to the state Department of Homeland Security. No major injuries were reported.

Sunday's storms came two nights after a different round of storms caused extensive damage in parts of Johnson and Shelby counties.
