INDIANAPOLIS -- Look up in the night sky this weekend, and you just might catch a meteor (or two, or three) flying by.
The Orionid Meteor Shower peaks Friday night into Saturday.
“Meteors should become visible starting in the late evening," Bruce McClure with EarthSky.org said. "They’ll probably be most prolific in the few hours before dawn on October 21.”
At best, about 10-15 meteors per hour are possible.
Weather should work in our favor for viewing the show. Mostly clear skies are expected across central Indiana Friday night into Saturday morning.
An added bonus is essentially a new moon. That means very little light from the moon will compete with the meteor shower.
When you go outside, look up for the constellation Orion. You’ll find him off to the WSW.

“The meteors – vaporizing bits of comet ice and dust – will look like streaks of light in the night sky,” McClure said.
The Orionids are remnants of Haley's Comet, one of the most famous comets here on Earth, which last flew by our planet in 1986 and is expected to return in 2061.
