Forecast: Cool-down coming, with a detailed trick-or-treat forecast

INDIANAPOLIS - Skies will start off clear across the area today and we will enjoy sunshine for most of the day. However, late this afternoon and evening we will see the clouds increase ahead of a powerful cold front that will bring big changes to central Indiana for the weekend.

Overnight a few spotty showers will be possible as temperatures fall into the upper 30s and wind will start to increase. For Halloween we will deal with very windy conditions and scattered showers off and on throughout the day.  High temperatures will briefly touch the 44-degree mark early in the afternoon Friday before they fall into the 30s throughout the evening hours.

Combine the chilly temperatures and wind gusts up to 30 mph and that will put wind chill values in the mid-20s for trick or treating. I think the wind and temperatures will be a bigger issue for the kids heading out and about than the precipitation.

By evening we should just have a few isolated showers around with maybe a few snowflakes mixed in. Saturday and Sunday we will wake to temperatures only in the 20s as the coldest air of the season arrives. We will rebound back closer to normal by the middle of next week.
