KOKOMO, Ind. - The teenage driver of a moped hit by a truck Thursday night has died, the Marion County Coroner's office confirmed.
The teen, 13-year-old Christian Reede, of Kokomo, was driving a moped with another teenage passenger when their vehicle was struck just before 9 p.m. Thursday night by an unidentified driver in a truck.
The accident occurred near the Highland Springs Subdivision. Police said the driver of the truck continued southbound through the subdivision after the accident and did not return to the scene.
Reede's teenaged passenger was taken to the hospital in serious condition as well. Officials said the passengers condition has improved.
Kokomo police are actively searching for a white, late model Ford truck, with possible right front bumper damage in connection with the incident. Police are asking anyone who has information concerning the suspect vehicle or the driver of the suspect vehicle to contact the Kokomo Police Department at (765) 459-5101, or the Kokomo Police Department Hotline at (765) 456-7017.
