CARMEL, Ind. - A man walked into a donut shop late Monday night in a suburb north of Indy -- but police said it wasn’t a sweet tooth that brought him there. Carmel investigators said the armed man came for cash and now they’re searching for him after he got away.
The Carmel Police Department said just after 9 p.m. Monday, officers were sent to the Dunkin Donuts at 1305 S. Rangeline Road after employees said a man had walked in and displayed a black, semi-automatic handgun, demanding money.
Employees described him as black, in his early 20s, roughly 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 200 to 210 pounds. They said he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with red lettering, a baseball hat with a straight bill and dark-colored jeans, and that he was carrying a backpack.
Investigators said he got away with cash and ran away through the Dunkin Donuts’ rear door. Police said if anyone has any information on this robbery, they should contact the police department at 317-571-2511. Tips can also be reported anonymously at Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana (317-262-8477).
