COLUMBUS, Ind. - Police are investigating the suspected homicide of a 26-year-old Columbus woman who was found in her apartment on the city’s far west side Tuesday afternoon.
The Columbus Police Department said at roughly 4:30 p.m. Tuesday that it activated a multi-agency death investigation team after a woman in her mid-20s was found unresponsive in her home by employees of her apartment complex.
A resident of the neighborhood told RTV6 the apartment complex is Riverstone Apartments, right off Interstate 65 in the 3400 block of Riverstone Way.
"12 officers, crime scene tape, lots of worried residents," the resident said via Twitter. She also said even more police had arrived since she sent us her original report at roughly 4 p.m.
Police said detectives obtained a search warrant after paramedics pronounced the woman dead on the scene. Based on observations while executing the warrant and information obtained so far, authorities said the case was now classified as a homicide investigation.
Authorities asked for the community's help to find Ryan Allen Klug, 36, of Columbus. Klug may be driving a 2008 grey Subaru Legacy with Indiana plate number 357BPC, police said.
Police said Klug is a person of interest.
Authorities have not released the woman's identity or information on how she died.
