INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis man was arrested after he allegedly started a fight on the Monon Trail and threw a gun into the canal.
Shane Schmutte, 30, was trying to fight with people on the trail in Broad Ripple on Tuesday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.
When officers arrived, police said Schmutte tossed a pistol into the water.
The Indianapolis Fire Department dive team was called out and recovered the weapon in addtion to several bags of drugs.
Schmutte faces narcotic and firearm charges.
