RTV6 was honored Saturday night with several top honors at the 45th annual Lower Great Lakes Chapter Emmy Awards ceremony.
RTV6 went into the ceremony with 15 Emmy nominations, and took home four top honors.
Call 6 Investigator Rafael Sanchez won the Emmy for "Best News Special" for his series "Richmond Hill: Road to Recovery " on the one-year anniversary of the Richmond Hill Explosion. Sanchez was joined in receiving the award by photographers Paul Chiodo and Jason Scheuer, as well as commercial production supervisor Blake Brenneman and creative services senior producer Steve Brenneman.
Fellow Call 6 Investigator Kara Kenney also received an Emmy for "Best Politics/Government Story" for her series "Empty Garage, Empty Promises ." Photographer Jason Scheuer shared in the award.
The weekend news team was honored with an Emmy for "Best Weekend Newscast" for their coverage of the Colonial Hills bus crash. The team consisted of Executive Producer Brady Gibson, News Producer Katie Oakley, and reporters/anchors Drew Smith and Rafael Sanchez.
RTV6 Sports Director Dave Furst was also honored with the Emmy for "On Camera Talent – Anchor Sports."
