The glamour, the glitz, the attention -- the pursuit.Celebrities know what it's like to be pursued constantly with cameras flashing, voices calling and feet pounding the pavement to get up close and personal. While they may sometimes condemn all the hype, there are a lot of people out there who would love to step into their shoes and strut around in them while donning the cloak of fame, even if it's only a semblance of it.
Celeb-4-A-Day offers people a chance to experience that feeling firsthand."We like to say that the everyday person deserves the attention as much, if not more than, the celebrities," said the Web site's founder, Tania Cowher. The Web site provides personal paparazzi for ordinary people who want to be treated like a celebrity at a party or other special event of their choosing.Celebrity wannabes can enter with paparazzi following close on their heels and giving them the full star treatment, including "asking questions, vying for coverage, shouting your name and everything else you've seen on T.V. and want to experience for yourself," the Web site says."It's for all the people who wonder what it's like when they see celebrities on TV shows and in the magazines," Cowher said. "It's a lot of fun."The service is offered in three packages in three cities: Austin, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The packages range in price from $249.99 to $2,499.99.What you're paying for is paparazzi at a chosen event, a high-gloss print of yourself on the cover of Celeb-4-A-Day's celebrity gossip magazine, MyStar, and up to two hours of paparazzi-provided star treatment. The higher-priced packages also offer optional limousine rides, a CD containing photographs of your Celeb-4-A-Day experience, a personal publicist to escort you into your event and field questions from your paparazzi, and a bodyguard. The service launched in November of 2007, and Cowher said she has plans to expand to other cities."We get calls pretty much from people all over the country wondering if the service is available in their cities," Cowher said. "Most of our clients say that it's an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetimes."
