INDIANAPOLIS — WorkOne Indy announced Monday its main office will be closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but its services will still be available online.

According to a news release from EmployIndy, the WorkOne Indy American Job Center at 4410 N. Shadeland Ave. closed in compliance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that limit in-person gatherings to no more than 50 people. More than 100 people visit the center each day, the release said.

Workers who lose their jobs due to the pandemic should first file for unemployment insurance through the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. People with questions can call the unemployment insurance help line at 1-800-891-6449 or watch a video tutorial for filing assistance.

Resources for help with the unemployment insurance filing process, including information regarding frequently asked questions about payment, benefits, claims and vouchers, are also available.

Anyone currently receiving unemployment insurance who has recently received letters requiring them to attend a reemployment services and eligibility assessment orientation workshop at WorkOne Indy is exempt through the next four weeks, according to the release.

WorkOne Indy will also offer free financial counseling through Pete the Planner, who can be contacted at recover@petetheplanner.com
