Indianapolis Public Schools names three superintendent finalists

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Public Schools named three finalists on Friday in the superintendent search.

The IPS Board of School Commissioners chose Devon Horton, Aleesia Johnson, and Larry Young Jr. as the superintendent finalists.

The Board is still accepting questions from the community to be considered during the public interviews with the finalists. The deadline to submit questions is Monday, June 17, by noon.

The public interviews will take place Tuesday, June 18, starting at 5 p.m., at the John Morton-Finney Center for Educational Services at 120 East Walnut Street.

Chief of Schools for Jefferson County Public Schools
Dr. Horton has five years of classroom teaching experience, nine years of school leadership experience and five years of district leadership experience.

Aleesia Johnson

Interim Superintendent for Indianapolis Public Schools
Mrs. Johnson has six years of classroom teaching experience, five years of school leadership experience and four years of district leadership experience.

Larry Young Jr.

Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education for MSD Pike Township.
Dr. Young has seven years of classroom experience, seven years of school leadership experience, and seven years of district leadership experience.
