Man dies after being hit by car near 21st and Shadeland

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man is dead after he was hit by a car on the east side Saturday evening. 

Police were called to the intersection of 21st Street and Shadeland Avenue around 7 p.m. 

Officers say emergency crews rushed the 46-year-old man to the hospital but he later died. 

The Marion County Coroner identified the victim as Larry Sargent. 

Police say the man was walking down the center of the road when he was hit, and visibility may have been an issue for the driver because of the weather.

The victim's identity hasn't been released. 

The accident remains under investigation.
