CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a home health care nurse was wounded when a handgun left on a table next to a patient's bed accidentally discharged in eastern Indiana.

The Wayne County sheriff's office responded to the home near Cambridge City on Monday and found the nurse wounded in the buttocks and forearm. She was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition. Her name wasn't released. No other injuries were reported in the shooting.

Investigators found that the patient had the loaded revolver on the table beside his bed. The nurse said her clothing apparently touched the gun as she passed between the bed and the table, causing the gun to fire.
