New Research suggests wasps can use both deduction and logic.

The study can be found in 'Royal Society Biology Letters.' Tests were conducted at the University of Michigan.

For the study, 40 wasps were put in a multi-colored container. The wasps were then trained by researchers to recognize the colors.

For the next step, Wasps faced boxes with two letters with the later one containing an electric shock. One of the boxes was labeled 'B and D' and the other 'A and E.' If they wasps chose 'D' and 'E' they would receive a little shock. The letters all had different colors leaving the wasps to decide which one would be better for them.

By the end of the study, 65% of the wasps chose the right letter and color to avoid a shock.

Besides this most recent test, other ones have shown that the insects can recognize patterns on each others faces.
