INDIANAPOLIS – While Indy’s dining scene has been recognized as one of the best , a lot of locally-owned eateries have closed their doors for good this summer – with some of them only in operation for a few months before calling it quits.

Despite the closures, many doors are opening throughout the city – which means there are plenty of restaurants to explore.

Here are some of Indy’s newest restaurants:

Greenleaf Juicing Company | 18 N. Meridian Street
Bringing another healthy food option to downtown Indy’s core is Greenleaf. You’ll find a variety of 100 percent organic fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies, and Acai bowls in a fast-casual environment. The location opened in April, and since has garnered tons of fans.

Red The Steakhouse | 14 W. Maryland
This isn’t your ordinary steakhouse. You’ll find a diverse menu full of favorites like pasta, stuffed red peppers and even veal. Many Yelp reviewers said they were “pleasantly surprised” by the offerings.

Bar One Fourteen | 114 E. 49th Street
The perfect low-lit intimate setting for small bites and drinks can be found at Bar One Fourteen. The kitchen uses locally-sourced ingredients on their seasonal menu that can range from their specialty “Fancy AF” burger to their house made chips.

HoiTea ToiTea | 6283 N. College Avenue
You won’t find full entrees here, but you’ll discover new sweet treats and house blended tea. The menu features items like champagne tea cocktails, sweet, fruity and floral teas along with coffees and wines.

Petra Café | 610 Massachusetts Avenue
If you’re looking for a quick bite, you may want to stop in Petra’s Café for their spicy gyro. Even well after the lunch hour, you may find Petra’s small dining area filled – but grabbing your meal to go is worth standing in line. The Greek spot offers a variety of sandwiches, kebabs and salads.

BurgerFuel | 6320 Guilford Avenue
Meat lovers, vegans and gluten-free eaters can finally join forces at BurgerFuel in Broad Ripple. As the first location outside of New Zealand, Yelp reviewers have deemed it a hit. Some of the most popular items include the sweet potato fries, “V8 Vegan Burger,” the double third pounder with cheese and the “Bastard burger.”

Sahm’s Ale House | 1435 E. 86th Street
Sitting right along the Monon trail on the city’s north side is a plethora of woodfired pizzas, walking nachos, stir frys, beers and chops to choose from. Most likely you’ll have a hard time choosing from Sahm’s large menu so here are Yelp users’ most popular: chicken burrito bowl, buffalo cauliflower and any of the woodfired pizzas.
