INDIANAPOLIS — A local business on the east side is stepping up to prevent package thefts.

The owner of Coal Yard Coffee is telling neighbors to use the cafe's address for package deliveries. Any boxes can safely be put in storage there until you're able to go pick them up.

The owner says she knows package theft is an ongoing issue, so this is one way they're working to help the people in their neighborhood.

"It doesn't cost us a thing. I mean, we are open, we are here," Michelle Roberts, Coal Yard co-owner, said. "We will hold them for you. You can come pick them up, that way it reduces the frustration and heartbreak during the holidays."

Roberts says she offered this to the neighborhood last year, as well, and about five people had their packages delivered there. She's hoping to help even more community members this year.
