BLOG: Severe weather moves across central Indiana Thursday morning

8:15 a.m.

The storm system is still making its way through south-central Indiana and pushing toward the east, although most of the severe weather has disappated at this time.


7:45 a.m.
Power is slowly being restored across central Indiana as the storms continue to move across the southern portion of the state.
Less than 9,000 Hoosiers are currently without power and almost all power has been restored to the Indianapolis area.

7:00 a.m.

State Police say high water caused the chain reaction that led to a semi jack-knifed on I-70 westbound near Meridian Street.
Only two lanes are open in the area at this time.

6:30 a.m.

6:19 a.m.

Outages continue with 9,170 reported by Duke Energy and 1,086 reported by IPL.

6:07 a.m.
More than 10,000 Hoosiers are without power in central Indiana aright now, including more than 1,000 in the Indianapolis area. Duke Energy is reporting 9,053 outages and IPL is reporting 1,072 at thist ime as the storms make their way across Indianapolis and central Indiana.

6:00 a.m.
Accident involving a jack-knifed semi is causing a back-up on I-70 westbound near Meridian Street.
It's unclear at this time if the weather had anything to do with the accident.

5:45 a.m.
Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Marion, Hancock, Johnson and Morgan counties through 6:15 a.m.
Strong to severe storms continue across the state.

5:30 a.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for much of central Indiana through 10 a.m. as strong to severe storms move across the state.
