ILLINOIS — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is holding a town hall in southwestern Indiana to talk about new health care options for ex-military.

With the implementation of the MISSION Act last month, Veteran Affairs officials say the agency has improved its ability to provide health care veterans need.

VA spokesman Kevin Harris says one of the lesser known provisions of the law allows eligible veterans access to urgent and walk-in care at participating clinics in their communities. Eligible veterans do not need to get prior authorization from Veteran Affairs to visit an urgent care provider in VA's network.

Wednesday evening's town hall has been scheduled to allow beneficiaries to ask questions and get feedback from VA officials. The event will be held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1157 in Vincennes.
