Carrier, Bryant heat pumps recalled for fire hazard

About 23,300 Carrier and Bryant heat pumps are under a recall notice due to risk of overheating and catching fire.

The recall affects 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-ton heat pumps under the Carrier Greenspeed and Bryant Evolution Extreme brand names.

The Carrier model numbers are: 

  • 25VNA024
  • 25VNA036
  • 25VNA048
  • 25VNA060

The Bryant model numbers are: 

  • 280ANV024
  • 280ANV036
  • 280ANV048
  • 280ANV060

The heat pumps were sold at Sears stores and HVAC dealers from June 2011 through August 2016 for $12,000 - $18,000.

There have been 41 reports of the heat pumps overheating. No injuries, fires or property damage have been reported.
