19-Year-Old Killed In Hamilton County Crash

Police: Purdue Students Driving 100 MPH

A 19-year-old Purdue University student was killed and another injured in a crash in northern Hamilton County late Wednesday.

Deputies were called to the 11300 block of east 256th Street at about 11:40 p.m. on a report of a serious crash.

Police said Nick Ozolins, from Atlanta, Ind., was driving his friend's new sports car at speeds of up to 100 mph when he lost control of the vehicle, hit two trees and rolled into a nearby field.

The owner of the car -- Ryan Gushlak, 19, of New York -- who was driving in the vehicle at the time was able to free himself from the wreckage and flag down deputies.

Ozolins was pronounced dead at the scene. Gushlack was transported to Methodist Hospital with minor injuries.

Gushlack, who is also a Purdue student and had been staying with Ozolins' family during break, told police he had bought the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer that day.

The crash was still under investigation Thursday. Toxicology reports are pending, police said.
