2-Week Manhunt Ends With Man's Surrender

Man Faces Charges After Scuffle With Police

A man who prompted a manhunt after a confrontation with deputies in Franklin County two weeks ago turned himself in earlier this week.

Indiana State Police and other law enforcement agencies had been looking for Troy Daugherty, 49, of Laurel, since Nov. 17.

Police said he tried to run over a Franklin County deputy who had responded to a disturbance call in the 12000 block of Little Duck Creek Road.

Daugherty then got into a scuffle with a deputy that resulted in the deputy shooting at him, striking Daugherty's vehicle.

"Daugherty managed to escape on foot into a nearby wooded area after which an intense manhunt began," said ISP Sgt. Noel Houze. "Daugherty … managed to elude police for the last couple of weeks."

Police said Daugherty made arrangements to turn himself at the Franklin County Jail and that he did so on Wednesday.

Daugherty was charged with attempted aggravated battery, resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana. He was released on bond.
