JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. - Johnson County Animal Control is looking for the owner of a dog found neglected near the Pines subdivision in Greenwood, Call 6 Investigator Kara Kenney reported.
A good Samaritan who found the dog on Scott Pine called the agency Saturday night.
Michael Delp, director of Johnson County Animal Control, said the Shih Tzu has matting "beyond belief" that is "definitely due to neglect."
"No way that neglect happens without someone completely ignoring the animal as he progresses into that condition," Delp said in an email to Kenney.
The dog has a laceration on his rear leg due to the mats cutting off his circulation.
Delp said they have named the dog Harry and are now looking to the public for help in locating the owner.
"We would gladly accept donations to help offset his veterinary care," said Delp.
