JOHNSON COUNTY — The Johnson County Health Department reported Tuesday that 54 residents at six different nursing homes in the county have died from COVID-19.

In all, more than 270 nursing home residents have also tested positive for the virus within the county.

Two nursing homes in the county account for 210 positive cases and 40 deaths. Greenwood Meadows reported 103 positive resident cases and 14 deaths as of Tuesday morning and Greenwood Healthcare reported 107 positive residents and 26 resident deaths.

It is unclear if all of the deaths reported by the Johnson County Health Department for long-term care facilities are included in the information released Monday by the Indiana State Department of Health. According to the latest ISDH figures, 420 nursing home residents have died from COVID-19 across the state of Indiana. Nursing home residents currently account for more than 30% of all COVID-19 deaths in the state.
