INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana is making some big changes to its Supplemental Nutrition Program to help Hoosiers in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
One change includes the addition of SNAP pandemic benefits, which will allow families with children who receive free or reduced lunch in school to get additional benefits while the COVID-19 pandemic is active. Hoosiers who already receive SNAP benefits will get the extra money on their current EBT cards. Those who do not receive SNAP benefits, but have children who receive free or reduced lunch, will get a new pandemic EBT card in the mail with the benefits already included.
Hoosiers who qualify for the pandemic SNAP benefits do not need to do anything to receive them.
The FSSA also announced a new permanent service that will allow Hoosiers who are elderly or in high-risk categories to use their SNAP benefits for grocery delivery.
