INDIANAPOLIS — It's back to work for employees at two big Indiana auto plants, both shut down in March over COVID-19 concerns.
Next Monday, workers return to the General Motors Electronic Components plant in Kokomo and the Subaru facility in Lafayette.
According to a company spokesperson, all GM employees will go through a safety protocol that includes hand sanitizing, wearing a face covering, answering a series of safety questions, having temperature scanned and wearing safety glasses.
While normal work hasn't be going on at GM Kokomo for almost two months, the plant has still been very busy. It's the facility where hundreds of workers are building ventilators for hospitals, under a half billion dollar government contract.
In Lafayette, Subaru of Indiana Automotive began the process of reopening operations this past Monday. A company spokesman said all workers are expected back on the job next Monday.
