ANDERSON — A student-athlete at Anderson Community Schools and a student at Edinburgh High School have tested positive for COVID-19.

Parents of students who were in contact with the student-athlete in Anderson were notified by phone Tuesday, according to the school district. The district does not plan to change its reopening plans at this time. This is the first student in the district to test positive for COVID-19.

Edinburgh Community Schools Superintendent Dr. Doug Arnold said all recommendations are being followed and there is no reason for concern at this time after a student at the high school tested positive for COVID-19.

"The Edinburgh Community Schools will continue following our COVID-19 Re-entry Plan that directs us to handle COVID-19 on a case-by-case basis. This is what we intend to do," Arnold said in an email.
