FRANKLIN — When the window opens, there is a love connection between a mother and daughter.

Rachael Working lives on the first floor at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. Through cell phones and a window, she and her daughter, Allison McClain, visit and talk about their days.

"This is a funny way to do it. Better this way than nothing," Rachael said. "It's wonderful to see her face. I love being able to talk to her."

One of the realities of the coronavirus outbreak is that families have to take extra steps to stay in touch, especially when a loved one lives in a nursing home or senior living community where restrictions on visitors have been instituted to keep residents safe.

Rachael and her husband Von have been married for 50 years. Von lives on a different floor of the facility. The two usually talk via an iPad.

Allison's visits have no specific length. Talking is their mutual treasure.

Their exchange is a reflection of love which these days requires creativity. Their love is always in bloom, and it's on exhibit outside this window on the first floor.
