INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Public Health Department on Monday filed a notice of violation and is seeking a $1,000 fine after investigating complaints that the Indianapolis Speedrome violated the public health order that reduced crowd sizes.

According to a report from the health department, the facility violated the health order on Saturday by "greatly exceeding its 25% capacity limit for attendance." The health department also noted there was not proper social distancing of 6 feet and the face covering requirement for guests was not properly enforced.

A spokesperson for the health department said the violation and fine does not prohibit Indianapolis Speedrome from hosting its scheduled events as long as the facility remains in compliance with current public health orders.

The Indianapolis Speedrome noted on its Facebook page on Monday that races planned for this coming Saturday remain on the schedule.
