CARMEL — Senior1Care in Carmel is always looking to hire. There is always a need for caregivers to care for seniors right here in the community.

Right now, they are reaching out to people to help them who may be out of a job because of the novel coronavirus.

"When we started seeing local restaurants, retailers, hotels, bars having to close their doors it broke our hearts really," Tiffany Friend said.

Friend is the director of recruitment for Senior1Care. She spoke to RTV6 through FaceTime because she is currently practicing social distancing and working from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"If you are a bartender or you work at a local store and you need money to pay your bills we understand that," Friend said. "We have seniors who need your help."

Senior1Care is a family-owned business with offices in Carmel, South Bend and Elkhart. The company's services are in high demand.

"I think what is unique about the time that we are in right now it is really easy to feel isolated, especially for our seniors who might be feeling especially nervous about getting sick or going out and about," Friend said. "It's really important that we make them feel like they are not alone because they are not."

From grocery shopping to cleaning, caregivers help in a variety of ways.

"Generally speaking people who work in the service industry do it because they like helping people," Friend said. "If there ever was a time to employ people like that and wrap their arms around them it's now. We need people to help our people."
