Meijer asks customers to leave reusable bags at home

INDIANAPOLIS — Meijer shoppers have been asked to not bring reusable bags to the chain's grocery stores in order to help prevent the spread of germs during the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a news release, customers should not bring reusable bags unless they are using the Meijer Shop & Scan service.

The change is effective at all Meijer locations.

Meijer also adjusted its hours last week to 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Other changes included:

  • Pay-at-the-pump fuel sales will remain available 24 hours a day.
  • Meijer stores and pharmacies will provide dedicated shopping times for senior citizens and customers with chronic health conditions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 a.m. local time.
  • Meijer stores and pharmacies will provide dedicated shopping times for essential service workers and Meijer team members on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-8 a.m. local time.
