BLOOMINGTON — The Monroe County Health department has extended the county's stay-at-home order through May 15.
The health department said local data does not show that Monroe County is meeting the criteria to re-open that was set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and that the number of COVID-19 cases is not declining.
The announcement followed the release of Governor Holcomb's five-step plan to re-open the state of Indiana.
During his announcement, Holcomb said local restrictions will trump state-wide plans.
Monroe County is not the only county which has extended their stay-at-home orders. Marion County has extended theirs until May 15, as well. According to the governor's plan, Lake County will not move to stage two until May 11 and Cass County, which has the highest rate of infection in the state, will not move to stage two in Holcomb's plan until May 18.
