INDIANAPOLIS — The need for meals is only going to get bigger over the coming weeks and months as the coronavirus spreads across the area.

A food bank is teaming up with a local restaurant owner to make sure more food is available to those who need it. Second Helpings is working owner of Sahm's Cafeteria on a new project.

The kitchen space of Sahm's Cafeteria at One America Tower will be expanded and become a satellite kitchen for the food bank.

Second Helpings says Sahm's will help them give out an additional meals to those in need starting today.

"We have a great crew of people that are ready to step in,” said Ed Sahm, CEO of Sahm Restaurant Group. “And deliver it around under Second Helpings’ guidance."

The partnership will create an additional 1,100 meals this week. They expect to make and package thousands more meals in the coming weeks.
