INDIANAPOLIS — With a need for donations during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Milk Bank is preparing to host a drive-up milk drive this week.
The Milk Bank, which provides pasteurized donor human milk primarily for premature and ill infants in hospital neonatal intensive care units, will host the event from 2-5 p.m. Friday at its office at 5060 E. 62nd St.
Potential donors should complete pre-registration on The Milk Bank's website. After registering, donors will receive a call from one of The Milk Bank's donor coordinators with additional information and will be scheduled for an appointment, according to a news release.
Donors will be greeted at The Milk Bank's parking area approximately 10 minutes before the time of their appointment, and they will remain in their vehicles and communicate with staff via phone before entering the organization's office.
All areas in The Milk Bank's office where donors go will be sanitized after each person leaves.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the coronavirus has not been found in breast milk.
